This painting was acquired following an exhibition at the University by Nicholas Verrall in January 2006. In 2010 he participated in a group exhibition in the Lewis Elton with Fiona Millais and Derek Daniells. He studied illustration and printmaking at Northampton School of Art, gaining a National Diploma in Art & Design. He has always been interested in landscape painting since he first began working as a professional artist in 1970. His paintings have been widely exhibited in the UK, France, America, Tokyo and Hong Kong. Influenced by earlier works in pastel, he uses a distinctive oil painting technique to capture particular effects of light, mood and scene. He is a member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and a member of the Royal Society of British Artists.
