Charles Paxton Markham (1865–1926) was the eldest son of Charles Markham (Director of the Staveley Company) and Rosa Markham (daughter of Joseph Paxton). He became Director of the Staveley Coal & Iron Company after the death of his father in 1888 and founded engineering company Markham & Co in 1889. He was also Mayor of Chesterfield in 1896, 1909 and 1910.
