The work was exhibited in 1907. Colin McAlpin was a local musician born on 9th April 1870 at 67 Sparkenhoe St, Leicester, son of Mr J. W. McAlpin. He published his first composition in 1885 before being admitted to the Royal Academy of Music the following year. He was a composer of songs and was an accomplished organist. He died 13th May 1942 in Dorking, Surrey.
