Two of three giant cast metal ‘D’s are at either end of a street. At the eastern end of the street, Oxford Street, the ‘D’ is followed by bollards in the form of a lower-case ‘i’, ‘n’ and ‘g’. Then comes a large recumbent wooden ‘S’ lying on its side: a bench. Stone and metal plaques placed on walls and roads throughout the seven streets of this triangular area behind Temple Meads Station, long known as the Dings. The texts as a whole are by Claire Williamson, poet, performer, writer and counsellor, and Beth Trimmer, local historian and broadcaster.
