This colourful and vigorous oil painting dates from Wood's important period in Brittany just a few months before his tragic death at Salisbury Station in August 1930. The painting was shown in the major Arts Council retrospective exhibition of Wood's work in 1979. It depicts a small village square with flags and bunting with men and girls in Breton costume dance to the playing Breton pipes and drums.
