The subject matter appears to be either a donor or a patron kneeling whilst perusing a devotional book containing texts and prayers. Above, the dead figure of Christ is supported by a representation of God or a bishop. The background detail suggests a Netherlandish influence. Whilst the subject matter is uncertain, this panel is of great age and may well be the left-hand side of a triptych from an altar.
