Naive folk-art style full-length portrait of the drum major, set against a backdrop of tents, a fort and coastal scene with British naval ships on the sea. As the major is part of the band his uniform is in reverse; the predominant colour is normally only seen on the facings (with regimental colours on the collar and cuffs).
