Still life of girl seated with skipping rope. The girl is Eileen Fox and she was born in London in 1909. In 1917 Eileen and her family moved to Hascombe near Godalming and in 1923 she married Captain Gerald Adeley who was in the Royal Ulster Rifles. During the War she helped to plant trees near Winkworth which became Winkworth Arboretum and was given to the National Trust in 1952. She died in Bristol in 1975.

In the painting Eileen is wearing a white dress and this dress was donated to the Museum at the same time that the painting was. On the back of the portrait a label says 'Royal Academy 1909 Exhibition'.
