Full length portrait of Bernard Law Montgomery, 1st Viscount Montgomery of Alamein as Commander-in-Chief, 21st Army Group, at the end of the war. He is pointing to a map of the Normandy beaches for the D-Day landings. The portrait was commissioned by Montgomery himself. There is an approved copy of this painting on loan from Viscount Montgomery to the National Portrait Gallery by the artist Francis Owen ('Frank') Salisbury.
