STRATHKELVIN DISTRICT COUNCIL / THE FORGING HAMMER WAS BUILT IN THE EARLY YEARS OF THE 20TH CENTURY AND WORKED AT THE "STAR" FOUNDRY IN SOUTHBANK ROAD FROM 1930'S TO 1981. IT WAS GENEROUSLY DONATED TO THE TOWN BY GLYNWED FOUNDRIES LTD AND WAS INSTALLED HERE THROUGH THE KINDNESS OF  M T D CRANES LTD, ROBESLEE CONCRETE COMPANY LTD AND HOWIE & SONS LTD. KIRKINTILLOCH NOVEMBER 1981
