George Wilson of Kilmeny, Hawick, was born on 7th January 1815 and died on 23rd December 1898. He was a Senior Partner of Wilson & Glenny Ltd and was elected the first Provost of Hawick in 1861. He was also President of the Liberal Association of Hawick and Justice of the Peace for the County of Roxburgh. He was appointed Captain of the 5th Roxburgh Rifle Volunteers in 1861.
