Anthony Frost was born in St Ives but moved away from Cornwall as a child. He studied at Art Colleges in Banbury and Cardiff and returned to Cornwall in 1974. His work is rough and physical, being brightly coloured and combining the painted surface with added materials such as rope and cardboard. It is often described as being concerned with the dynamics of painting, though it is also influenced by rock music, in particular that of 'The Fall', for whom he has created a record sleeve.
