Hannah More was a philanthropist and one of the most prolific writers of her generation. She wrote about the education of women, morals and the abolition of the slave trade. More was born in Fishponds, now part of Bristol, and became a teacher. Her early dramatic writing introduced her into London's literary circle and she became well known throughout the country. Frances Reynolds was an amateur artist and the sister of Joshua Reynolds. She acted as housekeeper for her brother in London.
