London artist Edward Leslie Badham moved to Hastings in 1905 where he took to recording the streets of the Old Town through his pencil and ink drawings and oil and watercolour paintings. 'Corner House and the Blue Saloon' is an example of his fantastic watercolours.

In May and June 2020, during the COVID–19 pandemic, Hastings Museum & Art Gallery and artists Kate Hulme and Carissa Tanton introduced the community project 'Hastings Digital Quilt' (#HastingsDigitalQuilt), enlisting the help of 192 artists and creators to recreate Badham's painting in a variety and mediums.
