Auguste Rodin made sculptures that were so lifelike, he was once accused of taking body casts. In response he created a piece larger than life to prove his critics wrong. Here he has cast a tiny head lifted up by sadness. Rodin's works met with controversy, labelled 'shapeless grub' and 'foetus', while he himself was called 'the sculptor of the erotic'.
