Landscape scene set on a hot summer's day in August. In the foreground, sheep graze on the dry land as others recline in the heat. A single cow stands in the centre, looking in the direction of a peasant woman holding a bundle of hay; a sheep pulls strands of hay from the bundle as the woman looks towards a young boy, sitting on the ground. In the distance animals graze, and beneath a cloud covered sky, a church is visible on the horizon.
