Henry Thomas Hare (1861–1921) was President of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) 1917–1919 and an important figure in the recovery of the RIBA after the First World War. Articled to a Harrogate architect in 1876, he later studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and from 1891, practiced in London. Over the next 20 years he established himself as one of the leading architects of public buildings in the country, often in partnership with others and concentrating on municipal buildings.
