Street scene with group of people gathered around the table of a terrace café to the right, consisting of a woman in black, possibly in mourning, with two small girls standing at the table. A horse stands nearby and a picturesque building sets the scene in the background to the right, with turret and pitched roof. The café has an awning in gold and above this there is a flag pole with a furled French flag. The sky extends across the majority of the canvas in bright blue with occasional clouded areas. The painting is predominantly blue in tone apart from the building which is in a sandstone colour. The style of painting is loose and impressionistic.
