Set into the ground on a grassed section of High Force Hotel car park is a semi-circle of square flat stones. Each has an hour of the clock inscribed and one to the bottom left states the sundial is set for British Summer Time, minus 1 hour for GMT. Standing on the base of the semi-circle, the months of the year are carved into flat stones, moving vertically into the centre of the semi-circle. A participant should stand on the current month and with good sunshine should find that their shadow is cast on the exact hour.
