Greenham, who graduated with a degree in English, was one of the most prolific British portraitists in the second half of the twentieth century, but he also painted landscapes and other subjects. In this interior view of St Paul's Cathedral he tried to give an impression of the huge choir of the church during a service. Although the people attending the event are painted in an extremely summary manner, the painting itself aims to evoke the colourful scene and powerful interior.
