An interior scene in a tavern. A woman seated in the centre faces the left, where a violin player stands at her side. The woman leans against a table on the right, which is covered with a luxurious carpet, on which is a large platter containing oysters, several of which have slipped onto the carpet. She looks up at her companion, a jug in her left hand, an empty glass in her right, which she holds upside down. Her male companion looks down towards her low cut bodice, his bow resting on her lap, a violin in his hand. In the background, to the left, a parrot sits on a high tiered perch, while on the right two men converse at a table, one of them holding a long pipe.
