Major General Sir Oliver Nugent (1860–1929) was well known for his command of the 36th Ulster Division during the First World War, particularly during the Battle of the Somme in 1916.

Born in County Cavan, Nugent was the son of Major General St George Nugent and Emily, daughter of the Right Honourable Edward Litton, who was a senior Irish Judge and MP for Coleraine at Westminster.
