During 2000, members of the public were asked whom they would choose to have a portrait painted of. The overwhelming choice of the majority was Mike Stentiford, MBE. Mike Stentiford is well known locally as a keen and enthusiastic environmentalist. It was for his work educating people about the local countryside and its inhabitants that Mike was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Millennium Honours List.

Philip Harris’ work has a quality of realism that could be described as 'Super Real'. It is intensely observed showing the minutest details of the sitters' hands and skin. Philip Harris won first prize in the BP Portrait Award for the National Portrait Gallery in 1993.
