A minimalist but still atmospheric watercolour depicting a coastal scene where the heavy grey skies merge into the grey sea, so that the horizon is almost indistinguishable. Although most of Knox's watercolour sketches are untitled and unidentified views of the Manx and English landscape and coastal scenes, it is thought this may be a coastal location in southeastern England where Knox produced various paintings of vessels moored along the shore.
