This large oil painting depicts a pair of lovers kissing against a colourful background of illuminated lights and a starry night sky. Figures either side appear to watch the embrace. This piece was acquired for the Scarborough Collections in 2016 after a retrospective of Sonia Lawson’s work at the Mercer Art Gallery, Harrogate. At the time Lawson had decided to offer some of her works to public collections in Yorkshire and we were invited to choose a work on display.
