Pat Convery was first elected to Belfast City Council in June 2001, representing the Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP). He continues to serve on Council for Castle District. He was designated as alderman in March 2015. Convery has served on Council's Health & Environment Services Committee and the Housing Liaison Committee. Convery served as Chair of the North Belfast District Policing and Community Safety Partnership from 2013–2014, and continues to sit on its Sub-Group.
