Portrait of Phillip Meadows Martineau, Assistant Surgeon and Surgeon to the Hospital 1778 to 1828. Apprenticed under William Donne of Dereham, he gained a European reputation for his skill as a lithotomist. In 1784 he conceived the idea of founding a public library in Norwich. There is a mural memorial to him in the Octagon Chapel, Norwich.
