A Chinese bronze (?) sculpture of a Qilin or Kirin (a mythical horse type beast with a dragon's head) and rider, probably a sage, with one leg detached from the main body of the Qilin. The accession register entry states that this item is a 'chi liu' (possibly Chi-lin?) and dates to the Myng Dynasty. The Qilin is decorated with a scored line design and has a hole on its back to place the seated figure in. The rider is seated sideways on the Qilin.
