A small Chinese carved soapstone figure of a sage a with his hair tied in a bun and large flower on left the figures right side of the face – one of nine figures of sages that insert into a stand. The figure is dressed in robes with black coloured decorated rims. The eyes of the figure are closed and he appears to have hands in a praying motion concealed within the robes. The sculpture is made of cream soapstone with a red tint toward the base. It is part of a larger set of figures on a stand recorded under 1973.69 and it has a small wooden stick attached to the base which inserts into a stand.
