This panel fragment shows Saint Peter receiving the souls of the blessed in to heaven. Jesus called his disciple Peter the rock upon which he would build his community and so Peter is associated with the foundation of the Christian church. In the centre of the fragment is the figure of God the Father. On his right is an angel playing a lute and on his left an angel playing a small harp. The tonsured head on the left is that of St Peter and in the centre is the top of the archway which represents the gate of heaven. On the right the head wearing a mitre is probably that of the figure of Saint Michael who is presenting the blessed souls to Saint Peter.
