Saint Zita was an ordinary domestic servant who lived in Italy in the thirteenth century. She became famed for her piety, chastity, charity and for a number of miracles. Zita would hide bread from the household to give to the poor. Once she was discovered by the master who asked what she had under her cloak. She replied that it was a bunch of flowers and when she opened her cloak the bread had been miraculously transformed into a posy.
