A stone gargoyle from Monk Bretton Priory. The corbel is decorated with crudely carved male human head. The head is depicted with a large hat covering full, curly hair which curls outwards from the face. The brow is furrowed with crudely carved parallel lines across the forehead. The eyes are detailed with eyelids and irises. The bulbous nose is damaged and the broad mouth is closed. The arms of the figure extend along the base of the corbel with the hands rising onto the lower cheeks. The little fingers on each hand are depicted in the corner of the mouth pulling the lips wide and taught.
