The human figure remained central to Żuławski's work throughout his career. Although originally influenced by Post-Impressionism, after the Second World War he focused on simplified designs, often with muted palettes. By contrast, this later artwork employs a bolder palette and a flattening of space and form that draws on his work as a graphic artist.
