The Cardiff-born portrait artist Barnett Samual Marks, lived in Ealing from 1868 to 1896. Though never exhibiting at the Royal Academy, he exhibited in annual exhibitions and throughout the British Empire. He was a member of the Public Library Committee from 1884 to 1897 and a supporter of the Ealing Free Library.
