The portrait is displayed on the Gallery overlooking the Great Hall at Kinloch Castle, directly above that of Lady Bullough on the ground floor, each being a 40th birthday gift to the other.

Sir George Bullough is portrayed standing in morning dress: kilt, jacket, white shirt with turned down collar, single colour tie and leather sporran. He is resting back against a large carved chest, holding a shepherd’s crook against his left side. Long stockings, known as kilt hose, are folded down at the top and supported by garter flashes, with a sgian-dubh (a sheaved knife), partly concealed on his right leg. Gillie Brogues complete Sir George’s Highland dress. Sir George Bullough, Baronet of Rum, died in 1939. He is interred in a granite tomb, alongside those of his father, John, and Lady Bullough in a 16-pillared mausoleum at Harris on the island they loved so much.
