Donald Urquhart was born in Perthshire and studied at Edinburgh College of Art where he is now a Reader in the School of Landscape Architecture. He was elected to the Royal Scottish Academy in 2008. At the heart of all of Urquhart’s work is an appreciation of landscape and a need to respond to it. Thomas A. Clark is a poet who lives in Pittenweem in Fife. His poetry is principally concerned with the experience of walking, often in the lonely landscapes of the Highlands and Islands. Clark’s poems also appear as site-specific installations or interventions in galleries, public spaces or in the landscape. Each of the six landscapes combines a short two line poem juxtaposed with a painting. Each painting is made up of a coloured area of wall with two panels attached.
