The SS ‘Newminster’ is shown wearing the funnel livery of J. E. Bowser & Son of Newcastle upon Tyne. Flying from the peak of her main-gaff are the four flags T. H. B. S. of her identification hoist in the Commercial Code of Signals in force at the date of the painting.
