A landscape with, in the centre of the picture, a stone bridge over a stream. A man in a red coat and a hat fishes on the left bank. On the left is a man on a white horse who has crossed the bridge and is heading along the road towards the spectator. Above him, in the middleground, is a field with grazing sheep, a cottage and trees. The peaks of the mountains can be seen in the background. On the right of the picture, on the far side of the bridge, is a small cottage with smoke coming from the chimney. On the extreme right is a woman on the road leading away from the bridge.
