Surgeon Major Archibald Arnott was the surgeon of the 20th Regiment of Foot from 1799. Arnott became surgeon to the Emperor Napoleon when the regiment was sent to guard him on the island of St Helena. Arnott was in attendance at Napoleon's death and performed the autopsy.
