The British artist and illustrator Chris Foss is well-known for his distinctive science fiction book covers. He spent his childhood in Guernsey. The German fortifications from WWII, found around the island's coastline appear in a number of his science fiction illustrations. Foss has also produced concept work for films such as ‘Superman’ and the science fiction classic, ‘Alien’.
