Susannah Littleton (née Biddulph) of Westcombe Manor in Greenwich married Edward Littleton of Pillaton Hall, Staffordshire in 1670. She was the mother of Jane Littleton.

The back of the portrait notes that the Littleton’s were ancestors of Clement Mansfield Ingleby on his mother’s side.

This is one of nineteen paintings associated with the Ingleby family of Valentines estate, Ilford, Essex which were donated to Ilford Borough Council in 1957 by Clement Rolfe Ingleby, son of Holcombe Ingleby of Sedgeford Hall, Norfolk. It now forms part of the collections of Redbridge Museum.
