In the 'Adoration of the Kings' panel, the ass and the ox at the bottom suggest the stable, the humble place of Christ’s birth. At the top right of the panel, the three kings, each wearing a crown and bearing a gift in a chalice-like container, offer gifts to the child. Joseph is shown as an old man in the foreground, seated with a staff in his hand. From the canopy over the Madonna and Child are hanging curtains of the bed on which they are resting. This panel bears much of its original colouring, which gives a good indication of the level of colour and gilding most alabaster panels would have had.
