A watercolour view of the whitewashed buildings at the Kella Mill at Sulby. Unlike most of Knox's watercolour paintings which are untitled and unidentified views of the Manx landscape, the artist has written a title and date on the painting in his distinctive and intricate script 'KELLYA, VIII. 03'. For most of his working life, Knox worked both as an art teacher and as a designer, but from c.1900–1904 he lived in a cottage in Sulby on the Isle of Man and produced many of his world-famous metalwork designs for Liberty & Co. of London, for which he is most well-known.
