This painting was selected for 'The Art Treasures of England' exhibition at the Royal Academy in 1998 and along with Waterhouse's 'Lady of Shalott' is one of the best-known images in FaImouth Art Gallery's collection.

It shows the interior of Tuke's cottage at Pennance Point, Falmouth and features his housekeeper Mrs Elizabeth Jane Fouracre (1857–1916) and her two sons, George and Richard. The local postman, William J. Martin is seen here playing the part of telegraph boy, having delivered a telegram.
