A roadway is shown at the full width of the base of the picture, running back and then turning sharply right. On the left side of the road are iron railings with trees behind. On the right of the road is a two-storey house showing two upstairs and two downstairs windows, and part of a front step. On the pavement near the steps is a seated cat and, at the house corner, a walking dog. In the centre of the road is a woman in a long skirt. To her left are two small girls, and coming round the corner are a man, woman and two boys. In the background behind the trees is a large house with a high wall, and from behind the wall rises a square tower with a large cross on top.
