This shows a rare view looking north-west towards Cowdenpark. The house in the background was built in 1850 by Alexander Paton, youngest son of John Paton, the founder of Kilncraigs wool-spinning mill in Alloa, and its near neighbour Norwood, the large, neo-Gothic mansion was built by his nephew John Thomson Paton in 1874. The railway line can just be seen in the middle ground.
