Elizabeth Gray has a duel talent for music and art and showed these talents from a very young age. She was a concert pianist until she married when she turned to painting. She is highly regarded for her paintings of birds flying in a landscape which have been exhibited and collected internationally. Moving on from painting her artistic talents have turned to many other mediums including printmaking, decoupage, ceramics, tapestry and decorated glass. This painting, created especially for Nature in Art, features in its centre a copy of an engraving from Samuel Rudder’s book 'Great Houses of Gloucestershire' (1771) which shows Wallsworth Hall only a couple of decades after it had been built. The decoration in the painting around the side reflect the abundance of nature and pick up some of the elements in the carved fire surround.
