A waved panel, the upper section of corten steel, has a large cut out of the Khanda symbol. The Khanda is an amalgam of three symbols, a double-edged sword in the centre, the circular Chakkar and two single-edged swords. It is also the military emblem of the Sikhs. The bottom section of the memorial is granite and bears a quote from Sir Winston Churchill.
