Yehudi Menuhin (Baron Menuhin of Stoke d'Abernon, 1916–1999), the violinist and conductor, is depicted with his violin and bow when elderly. Rendered in black and white paint with some brown, the picture is elongated in shape and rather dramatic in its lighting. A child prodigy, Menuhin made his London debut on 10th November 1929. He founded the Bath Festival in 1959 and the Yehudi Menuhin School of Music in 1963, and was much acclaimed for his work for international peace.
