2021 sees the 150th anniversary of the birth of Samuel John Peploe, one of Scotland's best known artists, born in Edinburgh on 27 January 1871. Along with John Duncan Fergusson, Francis Cadell and George Leslie Hunter, Peploe is part of the group of artists known as the Scottish Colourists.
With 38 oil paintings, our collection of Peploes is second only to that of National Galleries Scotland. What better way to celebrate this special anniversary than by bringing them all together in one place. Here we have vivid still lifes, tranquil Hebridean landscapes, bustling scenes of Parisian life and vibrant portraits - a testament to Peploe's love of light, colour and composition. Enjoy!
